چکیده

The direct electron spin resonance (ESR) absorption between a singlet ground state and the triplet excited states of spin gap systems is investigated. Such an absorption, which is forbidden by the conservation of the total spin quantum number in isotropic Hamiltonians, is allowed by the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. We show a selection rule in the presence of this interaction, using the exact numerical diagonalization of the finite cluster of the quasi-one-dimensional bondalternating spin system. The selection rule is also modified into a suitable form in order to interpret recent experimental results on CuGeO3 and NaV2O5.

Demystifying EPR: A Rookie Guide to the Application of Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Spectroscopy on Biomolecules

Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy, also known as Electron Spin Resonance(ESR) especially among physicists, is a strong and versatile spectroscopic method forinvestigation of paramagnetic systems, i.e. systems like free radicals and most transition metalions, which have unpaired electrons. The sensitivity and selectivity of EPR are notable andintriguing as compared to other spec...

MAGNETISATION AND ELECTRON SPIN RESONANCE STUDIES OF TETRAHEDRAL AMORPHOUS CARBON

The magnetisation and electron spin resonance (ESR) spectrum of two specimens of tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C), deposited from a filtered cathodic arc, were measured over a wide temperature range. The magnetisation was found to consist of superparamagnetic, paramagnetic and diamagnetic contributions. The superparamagnetic contribution resembled that recently found in carbon prepared from ...

Proposed Low Energy Model Hamiltonian for Spin-gapped System Cute 2 O 5 : a Nmto-downfolding Study

Using muffin tin orbital (MTO) based NMTO-downfolding technique we analyze the electronic structure of the low-dimensional quantum spin system CuTe2O5 which has been recently investigated (J. Deisenhofer et al, Phys. Rev. B, 74 (2006) 174421) in terms of susceptibility and electron spin resonance measurements. Our study indicate that contrary to the findings by Deisenhofer et al, the system may...

Theory of Saturation and Double Resonance Effects in Electron Spin Resonance

The theory of saturation and line widths in the electron spin resonance spectra of dilute solutions of free radicals has been extended to include incipient effects of chemical exchange and spin-spin or Heisenberg exchange processes as well as the effects of intramolecular terms such as the g-tensor, spin-rotational, and electron-nuclear dipolar (END) interactions. The development is based on an...

High - field ESR Studies of the Quantum Spin Dimer System Ba 3 Cr 2 O

Results of systematic high-frequency electron spin resonance (ESR) studies of Ba3Cr2O8, a weakly coupled S = 2 dimer system, in magnetic fields up to 25 T are reported. Two pairs of ESR gapped modes corresponding to transitions from a spin-singlet ground state to the first excited triplet states with gaps, AB = 563 GHz and CD = 399 GHz, are revealed below Hc1 = 12.5 T. The detection of the grou...
